The pacific northwest and Oregon are amazing habitats for fungal diversity. Understanding regional fungal population diversity and biology can lead to conservation of natural diversity and development of key natural products. 

We are interested in answering the following research questions: 

  • How wide spread and diverse are populations of fungi in Oregon and the pacific northwest?
  • What is the impact of fire, climate change, and over harvesting on these fungi populations?
  • How can we utilize natural products from fungi to increase health and well being?
